Staci & Karl’s Glamorous Thornton Manor Wedding…

A fairy-tale day wrapped in the grandeur of one of the Wirral’s most sought-after weddings venues. We take a peek inside the big day of Staci and Karl…

What’s meant to be will always find a way which rings true of Staci, Karl and their two children, Mason and Madison. Fate bought this charming duo together over 7 years ago in a Barclays Bank. Staci was covering a shift and Karl working overtime for his business – and the rest they say, is history.

Staci is a self-confessed Christmas enthusiast so naturally Karl chose a crisp Christmas morning in 2014 to pop the question to his soon-to-be bride. ‘Karl made a pathway from the bedroom, down the stairs and to the front of the tree with candles and petals’ Staci recalls. ‘He was waiting nervously down on one knee’.

The Venue

Having dreamt of wedding planning for most of her life, Staci knew that an exclusive manor house was an absolute must for her big day. Thornton Manor was the perfect fit for the couple with its undeniable wow factor and charm and its offering of perfectly styled rooms.

‘We loved all the original features of the manor, especially the servant’s quarters and how we always found something new with each visit.’ With the freedom to construct their day just the way they wanted to, Staci and Karl were drawn to the lack of restrictions and the super friendly and accommodating staff at Thornton Manor.

The Theme of the Day

The theme of the day was grandeur, elegance and intimacy. ‘We wanted to create a fun day for our guests to enjoy and remember forever.’

A simple white colour scheme accompanied by hints of gold and blush decorated the manor house, perfectly celebrating the splendour of the stunning venue. With an abundance of beautiful blooms and floating candles, the couple created a sumptuously opulent setting for their guests with personal touches injected throughout.

The couple used Joseph Massie for their venue dressing and were thrilled with the romantic feel that was created. ‘From the minute I met him I loved him. He brought all of my ideas to life. Seeing everything on the day was more amazing than I could have imagined’ Staci comments. Foam Flowers by Joanne was Staci’s choice of flower provider for the day while Owen Drew Candles littered the venue with sumptuous scents.

‘The smell definitely gave the wedding the extra wow factor that I was looking for. This was the most talked about thing from the day. I love how every time I light a candle at home it brings back the memories. Drew is by far the best at what he does.’

Hair & Makeup

Staci opted for a 12-hour package from Jessica Mair for her and hair and make-up to ensure that she was picture perfect and on hand to fix the tear streaks at any moment.

‘I am fussy and knew as soon as I saw Jessica that I had to have her for my hair and make-up – she made me feel like a star’ Staci admits. ‘Jessica gave me a soft make-up with Hollywood glamour curls for the day and changed to a more glam evening look with a textured up do’.

The Bridesmaids

Staci had 4 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls for her big day. Staci met her Maid of Honor, Kristina, and bridesmaid Emily in school and have been best of friends ever since with over 15 years of friendship under their belt. Hayley and Emma, Karl’s sisters, rounded the number to 4. ‘I was always nervous around them with Karl being the younger brother’ Staci claims, ‘but they have treated me like a sister since the first time we met’.

The Bridesmaids wore the Sistaglam range bought from Next. It was important to Staci that the girl looked fabulous but also felt comfortable in their frocks! The blush coloured gowns with subtle lace detail flattered each and every bridesmaid and complimented the theme perfectly.

The flower girls looked equally as fabulous. Maisie wore a dress from the Monsoon range and Madison, Staci’s daughter, wore a dress by Kathryn Henry. ‘I loved how floaty and amazing it looked’ Staci said.

The Dress

Staci wore a stunning figure-hugging Justin Alexander gown finished with intricate lace detailing and a slight fishtail fluted bottom. Having bought the dress 3 years prior to the day and before falling pregnant with her daughter, Staci worked hard to make sure she was able to fit in her dream dress again- and succeed she did!

‘I loved the original dress, but it didn’t have the wow factor, so I had a belt added, the back taken out, the necklace lowered, and the straps added. I also wore the biggest underskirt I could.’

The Boys

The boys looked stylish and sleek in black tuxedos with antique rose bow ties hired from Whitfield and Ward. Karl opted for a blue jacket and navy bow tie to match.

The Food

MH Catering were chosen to cater for the day guests. With a stunning selection of canapes to start, everything from feta cheese crostini to mini Yorkshire puddings where there to tantalise the taste buds.

The decadent wedding breakfast consisted of leek and potato soup, slow braised beef with potatoes and roasted vegetables and white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The evening guests were treated to homemade stone baked pizza! ‘The food was unreal everyone loved it. Martin and his team were exceptional.’

The Suppliers

Cake – The stunning 6-teired cake was created by Confetti and Crumbs and consisted of layers of vanilla, chocolate, fudge and ginger. ‘We met with Jane for a tasting, every flavour we tried was sensational’, said Staci, ‘She helped us design the cake to fit my theme and it definitely gave the wow factor.’

PhotographyKeyhole Studios were on hand with two photographers and a videographer to be sure to capture magical memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. ‘They were amazing from start to finish – I can’t recommend them enough’ said Staci.

The Entertainment

Injecting fun into their big day was crucial for Staci and Karl and they were certainly not short of plenty of entertainment for their guests to enjoy.

Funtime Casino– For the period of time between the wedding breakfast and the evening-do, Staci and Karl decided to let their guests ride their lucky streak. With 21, roulette and a wheel of fortune, this kept spirits high and drinks flowing!

Drawn by Mike- ‘We hired mike a caricaturist to draw our guests during our drinks reception. I am so glad we booked him as he brought humour to the day. Everyone loved their pictures and it was great for everyone to have a memory to take home with them. Mike was highly likable and again a huge talking point.’

Simon Dorey– ‘We met Simon at a wedding fair. He had the Michael Bublé/Robbie Williams tone we were after’ comments Staci. ‘I loved how he brought emotion to the songs during the ceremony then also had everyone up and dancing later on.’

The Reception

The perfect number of guests allowed for Staci and Karl’s day to feel intimate yet still immensely fun. The stunning Music Room in the Manor dazzled as night fell and allowed for a great time to be had on the dancefloor by all. This beautiful fairy-tale day was the romantic showstopper the couple dreamed of!

‘I just didn’t want the day to end’ said Staci.
